Organ Donation Donation of Organ is the biggest spritual thing - TopicsExpress

Organ Donation Donation of Organ is the biggest spritual thing one can do, as post ones death, the still usable parts of the body, though no more of any use to the dead, are still useful to the people needing these organs. Some Statistics :- Almost 1.5 lakh people in India need a kidney; however, only 3000 of them receive one. Only 1 out of 30 people who need a kidney receive one. 90% of people in the waiting list die without getting an organ. India’s annual liver transplant requirement is 25,000, but we manage only about 800. 70% liver transplants are taken care of by a live donor, but 30% are dependent on cadaver donations. Transplants post brain death must be done very soon after death to ensure the organs remain suitable for transplantation, and the person who has died is not deprived of the opportunity to donate. However, organ donation itself will not take place unless you, in your lifetime, expressed a wish to donate, or the person closest to you in life gives their permission. Steps for organ Donation:- 1.Register Your Decision Record your decision on the register and be ensure that your decision will be known. 2.Inform and discuss with your family and dear ones Help your family and friends understand and remember your decision 3.Always carry your donor card Always carry an Organ Donor Card in your wallet. It is important for your family to be aware of your wishes as WITHOUT their consent your organs / tissue cannot be donated. Where to pledge your donation? All Veterans and Families may sign the pledge for Organ Donations next time they are visiting the Army/Navy/IAF hospitals. It is as simple as that. For queries, if any, please write to .
