Organic nutrient grown basil plant on right has smaller thicker roots with less root hairs than the salt grown plant on left. This is evident in all our trials. Roots serve 2 functions. 1. Support plant 2. Seek nourishment. Since these plants can hold themselves up in the NFT plant sites, we surmise that the organic nutrient is more complete and available, thus the plant does not require a large root system to absorb it.
