Job Title Recreation Worker V - Senior Lifeguard Instructor Competition # 14-B033 Job Status Auxiliary Division Recreation, Culture and Parks Department Recreation Facilities and Programs Competition Open Date 7/21/2014 Competition Closing Date 8/5/2014 Position Overview The Township of Langley is currently for up to 6 auxiliary Recreation Worker V – Senior Lifeguard/Instructors to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division for our various Recreation Facilities. The focus of the position is to perform lifeguarding and instructional duties, and to assist with supervision and coordination of part-time aquatic staff. Summary of Duties All qualifications must be current and provided with application to be considered for this position: Completion of Grade 12 AED Certification (Automated External Defibrillator) Red Cross Water Safety Instructor National Lifeguard Certificate (Pool and Water park Options) Standard First-Aid Certificate Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 Certification or WorkSafe equivalent CPR Level ‘C’ Certificate Valid Class 5 (full-privilege) BC Drivers License Candidates must have some supervisory and/or leadership training and 2 years equivalent full time related aquatic experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Other desirable qualifications or related courses: Pool Operator’s 1 and 2 Life Saving Society Instructor WSI Instructor Trainer NLS Instructor Aquatic Supervisor Training preferred Required Qualifications This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check. Compensation & Benefits Overview The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $22.27 - $26.11 per hour (2014 rates), plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits.
