Organized religion does not separate people. People separate people. I have had my share of taking offense when people judge and let that affect my faith, behavior and choices. I stopped going to church because people (a couple) judged me. Was I any better? No because I was judging them for their judgment. All I can say is once I decided to go to church for my reasons ( to learn and grow to be more like Christ) I no longer was concerned what people thought and as a result of that I have met imperfectpeople who are doing their best to live a life of love service and pure joy. Their support and example has helped uplift and inspire me to continue to do my best to fulfill my lifes purpose and support others to do the same. Whatever your religious beliefs are remember that God is the same everywhere and his teachings of love and service do not change because of the imperfection of people. Stay compassionate and in the service of your fellow man. Especially the ones who have hurt you. If church is s piece of what brings you closer to God, I encourage you to go back with an open heart and the understanding that neither you or anyone else needs to b perfect to b loved. If we have no peace its because we have forgotten we belong to each other (mother Teresa )
