At the University Unitarian Universalist Society, 11648 McCulloch Rd, Orlando, FL 32817 Teacher: Rose Thorn Rose Thorn Rose Thorn, a clinical psychologist, teacher, and writer, met the Buddha in a comparative religions class in high school. After studying philosophy in college, she practiced at Shunry Suzuki Roshis Soto Zen Center, as well as with teachers of the four main Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Dr. Thorn has also trained in both apophatic and kataphatic Christian traditions, Jungian analysis, and interpersonal psychoanalysis. For Rose, all scholarly pursuit is only in service of meditation practice. Her off the cushion teaching, psychotherapy, and meditation instruction are nourished by her practice on the cushion. She likes to describe her practice as embodied presence in the natural state, and cherishes the time she spends in solo retreat. Her teaching is humorous, energetic, heart felt, and inspired by students. She is known for her way of bringing her scholarship, art, and body work into spontaneous metaphors that evoke both thought and laughter.
