@Orlando_Pirates press conference today regarding the #MTN8. On the panel today is Coach Vermezovic, Mpho Makola, Oupa Manyisa, @lennoxbacela & @Erasmus_95. Vermezovic: This game is difficult for us because we have an opponent that has beaten us twice in the league last season. We have been watching, we have seen their games, they have lost some players but have also signed some good ones. We have no injuries, everyone is ready to go. I urge all supporters to come to the stadium for our 1st home game. The players have been working hard in preseason. Carling is over & they are getting fresher. We are on the right track. We will have a much better Orlando Pirates this season, compared to the last time round. There is no pressure on me or the players, its a pleasure for us to be part of this club with great venues & facilities. The pressure is on those guys who are fighting in wars & fighting to save their families. That is real pressure. Not this. We have a friendly today because we want to work on other aspects before this weekend. We dont know yet who will play. I said after the game already, Issa Sarr is a good player, that is why he is here. He will be important for us this season. Its not only Nedbank, it was important to win Carling & the small games in training. The mentality is good. The judgement from the media & fans is not 100% because they only see 90 mins. We see what is happening behind closed doors. I will never judge my players based on one game. Maybe 3 or 4 then we know what needs to be worked on, then we work on it. We have a good squad with good depth. Every game for us is important & thats the philosophy we will adopt this season. We dont look at a game & adapt to the opponent. We go into each game playing our own way. That will work for us. Sure Niang, Gyimah they are gone, but they (SSU) have signed some fantastic players who can make trouble for us.If we wait to plan around all the teams, we will lose what we do best. So we are fully focussed on perfecting our own game. @Erasmus_95: We are looking forward to the game. Its our 1st of the season so we are ready. The players are up for it having won Carling. Winning Carling was great because we did it for the fans who voted for us so we are happy about that. We had a long & difficult season last time, but with many positives. So far we have done well & are looking to carry on. I dont know how SSU will play because alot has changed. What I know is that they will fight until the end. So will we. Manyisa: Last season is over, we arent holding on to that. We want to win cups & it starts with this game. One game at a time. Cup games are short & sharp, we have to keep focussed all the time. We have to finish quickly so we can focus on the next games. Big teams play in big games & many tournaments. There is MTN, Telkom, CAF. We have to look at those games as well. Makola: SSU are a good team with hardworking players, just like us. It will be an excellent game tactically. It wont be easy at all. When you play a team as often as we have like SSU, we start to get used to each other so it makes things harder & more exciting. Its great having Issa. You saw on Saturday, he is a hard worker, knows what he is doing on the pitch. He will make us stronger. @lennoxbacela: Its important for any striker to get that duck off your back. On Saturday as strikers we hope to start on a high note. Scoring now for us will let us build some good momentum going into the cups & league so we are looking forward to it. When I joined last season this was my 1st official game where I scored my 1st official goal so this cup is special to me. Its not about me doing well alone because if I score or assist & we win, then we have achieved as a team. We are a good team, we showed that last season with how far we got in this cup. We need to take that & build on it. This time last year we had CAF so it was difficult to prepare but now we are all going into the season on the same level. Strikers love scoring.
