Ortom hails Benue PDP, Inaugurates campaign team Governorship aspirant in Benue State, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, has commended the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state for their pledge at the last caucus meeting to conduct transparent congresses for election of delegates for the forthcoming primaries into various elective offices. He spoke when he hosted his political associates and veterans of the party across the state and formally inaugurated his campaign team during the meeting. Chief Dr Ortom charged the team to commence operations from second October, 2014 in accordance with guidelines and time table of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The event was held at Smile View Hotel in Makurdi yesterday (Friday, 12th September, 2014). The Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment appealed to the leaders to also encourage the people to elect delegates of their choice for the primaries adding that when contestants lose in a free, fair, and transparent contest they were bound to accept the results. He commended Governor Gabriel Suswam for keeping to his promise of providing a level playing field for aspirants and urged him to remain resolute. Chief Dr Ortom said as a political associate of the chieftains for decades he was happy that they had teamed up with him in order to make his dream which was indeed their dream a reality. He said the personal attendance of all the former state chairmen of the party, most of who he worked under as State Secretary and later Deputy Chairman, as well as majority of former state working committee members, former national and state legislators, state executive council members, and local government chairmen indicated reassuring commitment. The aspirant promised to carry the politicians along in the discharge of the mandate if elected. Chief Ortom pledged that his administration would ensure transparency, fairness, justice, selflessness, forgiveness and reconciliation which shall engender unity and development.
