Osama Bin Laden said he was going to strike at the economic heart - TopicsExpress

Osama Bin Laden said he was going to strike at the economic heart of America. He was going to cause us to fear so much that we change who we are and he was going to bankrupt us. So when his 19 suicide bombers flew into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon and a third into the field in Pennsylvania while they did terrible damage to over three thousand families that itself didnt bankrupt or change America. It was the reaction that our government foolishly misled by George W. Bush took launching us into two wars one in a country that had zero to do with the attack on our nation and other thats known for swallowing up empires, that is what bankrupted and changed our nation. It is reaction of most of the United States congress that signed the open ended Authorization To Use Force that gave President Bush a blank check to take us to war that cost us over six thousand US troops lives, thousands of casualties and an estimated two trillion dollars. It was the reaction of a traumatized fearful congress that let them sign away our civil rights in the so-called Patriot Act, indefinite detentions and torture, illegal wiretapping and spying on American citizens and now the militarization of our municipal police forces. Yes we must always defend our nation and be vigilant but that includes defending it from those who would use fear to profit off of us and take our civil liberties from us. If Osama Bin Laden wanted to attack us economically our response shouldnt have been to react by going to war against Iraq for sure and I think not even Afghanistan because we could have hunted him down and brought him to justice without committing ourselves to nation building and propping up a warlord drug family for thirteen costly years! We shouldnt have reacted by restricting our own freedom. We shouldnt have reacted by restricting immigration so it takes years for people to immigrate here legally who are seeking freedom, opportunity and to make a contribution to the fabric of our great nation. Our response should have been to react by loving our own people even more and uplifting every person with a free education in exchange for committing themselves to two years public service in their community. We could have established the 9/11 Education & Freedom Act in honor of every person who died on that day and passed comprehensive common sense immigration reform to attract more diverse talents and ideas to experience our great heart and noble people and share that with their families around the world! We could have used the two trillion dollars the war cost to make America stronger for generations to come!
