Oscar Eric Von Axelson passed away on Sept. 12, 2014. Oscar was born in Munson, Florida on September 29th, 1934 to Albert and Ruby Von Axelson.Oscar was an avid hunter and loved to deer hunt with dogs and turkey hunting was his other passion. Oscar came from a large family who were full of love, life and hard working people. Oscar was one of eight siblings being the second from the oldest. Eddie, Oscar, Virginia, Helen, Albert (Sonny), Mearl, Freddie and Mable. Oscar worked at the Santa Rosa County School Board and was over the maintenance department until he retired in 1997. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Escambia River Electric Coop for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ruby Von Axelson, his brothers Eddie Von Axelson and Freddie Von Axelson and a sister Virginia Lundy. He is survived by his wife, Gloria of 30 years, three daughters, Debbie Love (Kelly), Angie Wilkey (Curtis) and Lisa Dixon (Bill), two step daughters, Margo Cook ( Steve) and Becky Flood and his adopted son Joey Von Axelson. Three sisters, Helen Riley, Mearl Dyal (Don) and Mable Turman (Rodney). One brother Albert Von Axelson Jr. (Codylene) and two sister in laws, Louise Von Axelson and Dee Von Axelson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. The Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel with Elder Wayne Blocker and Rev. Alton Harris officiating. Burial to follow in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Holt.
