Oshiomhole urges FG to build East-West rail line March 29, 2013 | Filed under: Africa | Posted by: Editor Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo has appealed to the Federal Government to introduce East-West railway line to facilitate the growth of the economy of the South-South region. Oshiomhole made the appeal on Thursday when he received in audience at Government House, Benin, the minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godsday Orubebe. He said the project would be the only good and dependable transportation system that could facilitate the economic development of the region and the country at large. “The only appeal I want to make is on the issue of the East-West rail. This economy can’t be competitive and our region cannot attain the desired level of development without rail. “The assumption that road can solve and service our economy efficiently is not grounded in any logic. Around the world, even nations with smaller land mass embrace rail system,’’ Oshiomhole said.
