Otter Lake 4th graders had an interesting experience with the U of M Biology Team last week. The U of M students came to talk to the 4th graders about good and bad bacteria. We learned about bioluminescent bacteria (bacteria that begins to glow when it comes in contact with oxygen...look closely at the black photo) and where the the bacteria lives in our classroom. The U of M came and helped the students take samples/swabs from around the room and then grew the bacteria back in their lab. Any guesses where the mast bacteria was? 1. The rocking chair 2. A chrome book 3. The garbage 4. The window 5. A felt tip pen Look at the labels on the petri dishes for the answer...I was totally wrong.
