Otunba Taiwo Joseph wishes Nigeria well on her 54th Independence day. I bring congratulatory greetings to Nigerians home and abroad. This day is so unique and very important to nigeria and Nigerians. I salute the courageous comrades who indeed fought, agitated and finally got our independence. Some of them are still alive, while some are dead. May the souls of the dead heroes rest in peace. Nigeria, at 54 is still not free of its numerous problems confronting it. We should not be discouraged of having a better Nigeria. Its a gradual process. Nigerians should admit it is time to charge both the leaders and followers, to lead and follow aright notwithstanding party affilliations, religious nor tribal differences. It is time to collectively join hands with the zeal to rebuild our Nation. At least, if we dont, who would. The corruption prevalent in our societies are caused by us all. We all want short cuts, and few want to follow procedures. We shouldnt just see it as a leadership problem. The followers also have a role to play. Ethnic and religious sentiments are still problems confronting us, illiteracy, bad leadership and followership, substandard level of education, poverty, laziness, greed, covetousness and above all, ATTITUDE! We need to start reflecting on our daily activities and how much we either contribute to building Nigeria or destroying it. Lets pray for the Unity of Nigeria, and the peace to forge ahead asa nation. May God help us to know the truth, speak the truth and practically work in the truth. God bless Nigeria!
