Our 1st pig is ready!! The pigs are growing like crazy and that means its time to measure them up and see whose ready. We use the old school, baler twine method of measuring and its always accurate and a fairly easy way to get it done. All you have to do is.... 1. Get close enough to get the baler twine on the pig 2. Hold the pig still long enough to wrap the twine around it belly/chest. Thats all....wanna try?!?! Lol Oh and just remember some of these pigs are now approx 250-300+ lbs!! We then measure the twine and hope its long enough to indicate that the pig is ready to go and guess what?!? We are excited to say that Power Farms has its 1st Heritage Pasture raised pig ready to go to the butcher! We have 2 more pigs that will be ready with in a few weeks, and on that note...... Its gonna be a busy few weeks!!! All our pigs are heritage breeds that are pasture raised, with no added chemicals or hormones. We have a mixture of Gloucestershire Old Spots, Hereford, Berkshire, and Tamworth pigs. We are proud to have our first round of pork going in next week and look forward to serving the Power Farms Pork at our up coming open house in August!
