Our AGM will be held on 22nd November... We will be saying good - TopicsExpress

Our AGM will be held on 22nd November... We will be saying good bye to a couple of committee members, keeping some rat bags and hopefully welcoming in some new ones. We would like to welcome everyone the chance to apply to become a committee member, but first there are a few things you might like to know. At Asperlutely Autsome being different IS normal. Not only do we support families on the spectrum but some members of our committee and volunteers are on the spectrum them selves. We also have members and volunteers with Bi polar, Anxiety, social Phobias, brain injury, OCD just to name a few. With this in mind not everything that is said and done is in the normal range of doing things, offence is sometimes taken and what should be a simple issue sometimes is not. Part of being a team is to work through these issues - even when you may not fully understand or agree with a stance. We aim to be professional - but the truth is we are parents and carers just like you, we have no formal training nor experience for running a Not for profit organisation, sometimes our meetings run over, sometimes we get heated about the smallest things, sometimes we struggle as human beings with what life throws at us. This is part of who we are- we will never be a high flying corporate board who does everything to the letter, we are different, who we represent are different WE are different. We may not be well oiled, we may not be seamlessly organised but we have heart, passion, guts and determination and every one of us LOVES volunteering to help keep this organisation going. So if you think you can handle a little chaos, a sprinkle of disorganisation, a touch of eccentricity and a lot of hard work that pays way more than money could ever equal then you are our type of person and we would love to have you along for the ride and part of our AMAZING team.
