Our After School Head Coach Darren Kavanagh is doing an appeal for Crosscare Food Bank. The Crosscare Foodbank is in operation since 1989. The products collected for the Dublin food bank are redistributed to most of the main charities in the city including St. Vincent de Paul, Dublin Simon, Focus Ireland and Crosscare’s own centres for the homeless. In the current economic climate, demand on the Dublin Foodbank has increased steadily as more and more people look for help with the most basic foodstuff for their families. Presently we have over 50 voluntary organisations coming to the Food Bank who are engaged in providing meals or family support in the community. Crosscare has four food centres that provide a mid-day meal to those who are in need. These centres are located in Dublin and give people an opportunity to have a hot nutritious meal in pleasant and warm surroundings. In our centres approximately 500 meals are provided each day. Each centre operates to the very highest standard in terms of food preparation and hygiene practices. If anyone can spare any of the following items it would be greatly appreciated. Non perishable foods such as tinned foods - beans, peas, veg, soup, tuna, fruit. Also accepted is rice, tea, coffee, sugar, breakfast cereal, cereal bars, baby food, jam and peanut butter. Toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bubble bath, soap, razors, shaving gel, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, face and body moisturiser, baby bath and shampoo. Household products such as washing up liquid, washing up sponges, washing powder, cleaning products, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, cleaning cloths etc. Any help at all is appreciated.
