Our Board of Education meeting just ended!! It was a long night full of celebration and tough decisions. Tonight we celebrated our local Head Start program being deemed 100% compliant by the Federal reviewer making this the ninth year in a row of 100% compliance! We approved funding for the Rotary Gala Garden for special needs students to be utilized by our staff and student programs. We approved the appeal of Sunrise Charter School in SJUSD, a small school serving low income and special needs students. While our board was split 2 to 5 on this appeal and while I did not vote in favor of the appeal, our entire board remains committed to the success of the students served by this charter. I always leave our board meetings proud to serve with my colleagues and to be part of this great organization. Forward.
