Our Grounds Team are busy this week! Here they are building fences which have a life span of approx 2 years, so they need to be rebuilt to keep them fit for racing. This is a steeplechase fence in the making. It’s built using coppiced birch (a waste product from the woodland coppicing process) which is packed both vertically and horizontally in the fence frame sections – 7 sections in most fences. Once in situ the birch is cut down 4’ 6” high and it’s 6’ 3” wide. The team will be trimming soon, so we’ll post more photos then.
