Our Leaders, the PM via the MOE have missed the plot altogether - TopicsExpress

Our Leaders, the PM via the MOE have missed the plot altogether with regards to the direction of education in this country. Whilst exhorting and reminding everyone of the 2020 target to achieve a fully developed status, the PM and DPM have callously (or negligently) failed to recognise that Education is the pivot for the vision to be achieved. To be developed, it would first entail the mastery of knowledge especially in the sciences, technology and medicine. With that mastery, comes the ability to innovate and create discoveries - be it in bio or green technology, medical applications, ways to cut dependence on fossil fuels for energy, new alternative uses of natural gas (associated and non-associated of which we have plentiful) instead of merely exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Korea,Japan etc and many other possibilities of contributing to our nations well-being.. In short, we have the resources - herbs, plants, natural gas, high quality oil (Brent) etc etc to exploit. To master such knowledge, it is only elementary to acknowledge the fact that the only mechanics/method, is to learn/acquire such knowledge in the language that controls it - English. Thus to DENY the learning of M&S in English from Std 1 when it is necessary to start with the young, is totally inexcusable (negligent) and self-defeating. To compound it, the PM playing me hero/brownie points to foreign audience (in NYC recently), that Malaysia is supportive of STEM; when nothing has been done to enhance its development in schools ever since the eve of taking office, with that infamous Aku Janji.. Bahasa Inggeris dan Pembelajaran Sains akan di naik taraf... (BNs manifesto). This is nothing short of negligence in the pursuit of excellence in Education.
