Our Newsletter for January 2014 I hope you had a great Christmas break and that this year will be your best year ever! The Meadow Croft team would all like to thank you for your continued support throughout 2013 and look forward to welcoming you here throughout 2014. The ‘headlines’ below, will give you an idea of whether the rest of this letter is worth reading! Pet Care Talk – please keep reading. It gets better! Bird Care Talk – stay with me! Poinsettia Returns – Now it’s getting interesting! Valentine’s Day – Mothering Sunday – Primula Month – Viola and Pansy Festival and Preview Evening and Talk - Special Offers – I told you it would get better! Pet Care Talk We have arranged for a pet care expert from James Wellbeloved to come here and talk about dog health on Thursday 23rd January at 6.30pm. Tickets are available here at Meadow Croft at just £5 each. The ticket will qualify you for our finger buffet and also a £2 James Wellbeloved voucher. We will also be offering double points on the evening. Bird Care Talk Our friends at the British Trust for Ornithology have agreed to visit us again this year to give another informative talk on wild birds. The talk will be held here at Meadow Croft on Thursday 27th February at 7pm. A FREE recyclable bag containing a wild bird feeder and food will be given to the first 40 ticket buyers. Tickets are available here at the Meadow Croft Ticket Office, AKA the tills, from today, at a cost of £6 each. We will be donating £3 to the BTO from every ticket sold and you can enjoy a FREE slice of cake and cup of tea or coffee plus 10% off all wild bird care products purchased on the night. Poinsettia Returns No, it’s not the latest cinema blockbuster, but this offer is a Thriller! Bring in your Poinsettia during January, dead or alive, whether it was bought from Meadow Croft or not and you will receive 20% off any of our houseplants. The offer is not restricted to one plant, so feel free to make use of as many deals as you like. Valentine’s Day Our friendly, fab florists are poised with pens in hands to take orders now. We recommend ordering early, as ‘Last Minute Red Rose’ orders can be difficult to fulfil. We offer a delivery service, complete with delivery driver dressed in a suit and bow tie, which will start at 7.30 on the morning! Mothering Sunday Our drivers will be donning their suits and bow ties once again for Mother’s Day deliveries on 30th March. Orders will be taken any time up to the end of Saturday 29th, but delivery priorities will go to the ‘early birds’, so we recommend ordering as early as you can. We will also have some great gift ideas in store, from planted containers to scented bath bombs. Primula Month We are promoting this great genus of plants throughout February. From the native cowslip, to the most recent creations from the plant breeders, we won’t let you forget to stop and smell the (Prim)roses. Viola and Pansy Festival - Preview Evening and Talk Our 11th Viola and Pansy Festival will begin on Friday 14th March at 6pm, with our first ever ‘Preview Evening’ and will continue through to 23rd March. Our ‘Preview Evening’ will be a ticket-only concern, with restricted entry to Reward Card Holders only. The £3 pre-purchased tickets will gain you entrance to the evening, with a welcome drink and the opportunity to eat as much as you wish at our open buffet. There will also be an informative talk given by Michael Smith, owner of W.D. Smith and Son, starting at 7pm, on the subject of the festival and the development of Violas over the past few years. We will also be asking you to vote on your favourite variety and there will be a prize for the 1st voting slip pulled from the bag. We will be offering double points on all purchases made on the evening, so we recommend stocking up for the spring there and then! Along with our hundreds of different cultivars of Viola, we will be launching our ‘Scrap Heap Challenge’! Come along during the Festival to find out how you can win our first prize of a £50 Meadow Croft Voucher!
