Our Story The Dacre family were missionaries in Africa. Mr. Dacre was born in England and raised from a young age by British Missionary parents in Zambia. Mrs. Dacre was born in Zambia but was raised in Harare, Zimbabwe formerly known as Rhodesia. Three of their children were born in Zimbabwe. As missionaries in Africa, the Dacres passion was to assist orphans and widows. The Dacre family then moved to the United States in the early 90’s. They began looking for business opportunities that could help sustain their work in the third-world countries in order to continuously fund orphan programs. In December 2008, the founder of Omega Herbal Products International was on a missions trip in Vietnam when he came down with a stomach bug. With minimal knowledge of botany he drank a mixture of plant extracts known to have anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic properties. Within 30 minutes, all signs of the stomach bug were gone and he was overcome with a burst of energy. Upon returning home, Mr. Dacre told his family about his recent experience and little did he know that the adventure was about to begin and never could he have imagined the places they would go. Up until the early 1980’s it was not easy to get to the hospital for colds, cuts or scrapes. If anyone succumbed to bites, stings, scrapes, more traditional methods of caring were used such as herbal remedies. In some cases, extreme health concerns had to be cared for without medical help because of the remoteness of some African towns. In Malawi, the entire Dacre family contracted malaria numerous times. Both Mr. & Mrs. Dacre had Malaria seven times in one year and at one point, it was uncertain as to whether they would survive. Only in this extreme case was hospitalization available. The local African farm populations always maintained a deep-seeded trust in natural and herbal remedies. They knew that while nature could cause harm it also provided a remedy. Where there is something that can sting, there is something that can remove the sting. If there is something that burns, then there is something that cools. Around the time Mr. Dacre returned from Vietnam he decided to conduct further research. Based on the knowledge he obtained while growing up, he knew that additional herbal resources were available to assist the body in healing itself. He learned that certain plants have extracts that can be combined at different times and temperatures and are able to form new properties yet maintain the essence of the original plant. He also learned that some plants have anywhere from twelve to four hundred and twenty different chemical components. This means that there could be an infinite number of possible combinations and timings for the combinations, and that any difference in the timing, temperature or the sequence could render a different product. The brand Omega Herbal was born in early 2009 with Omega Wash [Omega Herbal 48], but the ingredients have a history that go back thousands of years.
