Our VERY FIRST field trip today! We survived!!! We had to walk a mile to the local grocery store and then had a tour. Kiddo did fantastic until we got inside...he knows he always rides in the cart so that threw him a little. Then they immediately brought out the hairnets...hahaha...this guy doesnt wear extras, but surprisingly wore it for about 30 seconds! At that point, I decided we would just walk around the store while the rest if the class toured the deli. WHOA. My buddy was in hog heaven, being allowed to walk up and down the aisles!!! He POWER walked(not ran 🙌), but after about 4 laps/10 minutes I was POOPED! We grabbed a cart and caught up with the class. He did just fine and it gave the teacher a place to put the free goodies! At the end, I was a little bummed that the store was ONE goody bag short, as the last bag was missing the coloring book and frisbee. Of course, that was our bag...and Im okay with that. He didnt realize he was missing out on anything, and if he needs a frisbee I will buy him one :) When it was time to walk the mile back to school, Wy wasnt having it, so I scooped him up and gave him his first piggy-back! Wasnt the easiest but it changed up my weight distribution for a few! Guess I need to go ahead and make another appt with my spine dr because that was not an easy walk! BUT I wouldnt trade the experience of helping him(and ME) branch out a bit for ANYTHING. He walked about 1/4 mile at some point on the return trip, though, as we led the pack the whole way!! Get this. We got back to school and it was time for a class picnic. As everyone congregated, he ushered me to the front door and insisted I leave! Ha! A bit sad I didnt get to eat with the class, but more happy that he was ready to get on with his day without any separation anxiety :) He grabbed his lunch box and waited patiently at the door for the go-ahead from his teacher to lead the class out. I was a bit emotional to see him from the other side of the glass doors...waiting so independently.... Glad the rain held off a couple hours for us. Thankful his dad was able to take time off this morning to watch the baby so that my buddy and I could experience this together. Amazed at the difference one year can make, as we quickly turned down this field trip last year! Next trip:Jack Hartman concert?????
