Our Villages, Our World: What Can We Offer? A two-day summit of renowned scientists, social-leaders, academicians, entrepreneurs and administrators titled “Our Villages – Our World: What Can We Offer?” will take place during Amritavarsham 60. The summit will be inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former president of India. The participants will includeDr.Leland H Hartwell, Nobel Laureate; Dr. M. S. Swaminathan, Father of the Green Revolution in India; Dr. Suresh Subramani, Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UCSD. Ideas generated during the Summit will be implemented into the village-adoption programme which is aimed at uplifting India’s rural village communities. The topics covered will be in the following three broad areas: 1. Rural Development 2. Rural Education 3. Spiritual, Social and Cultural Development What do we want from the conference, we are seeking – “Innovative Technology and practices, cost effective, rugged, easy to use and maintain, and sustainable”.
