Our Zimbabwean nanny tells me that in her country there is no crime. If someons is caught carrying a knife- 24yrs in prison; if someone urinates in public- 15yrs, and the list goes on. Even police dont carry guns, just batons. There is a great fear and respect for the police. Mugabe does many things wrong, and people apparently have less rights in Zim, but it seems we can learn something from this. If freedom and rights mean more to purpetrators than victims and leads to so much more crime and makes is almost impossible to prosecute, we need to seriously rethink our system.
