Our aim in life is not to be liked, but to be loved. Parents, take heed: Our children need to hear that they are worth loving, as they are now, warts & all, whether they think so or not. If we fail in that mission, we simply compound the problems that are already around, so many of which are rooted in a need to be better or a need to please or a need to be accepted or a need to be anyone but who we are. Too many are in the wilderness through a lack of affirmation by their parents. We need to take the bull by the horns, swallow our pride & actually tell people how special they are. The good news is that if we have been on the receiving end of such crap, there is hope & there is a way to a better life. That starts with accepting that, despite our foibles, failings & imperfections we are still valued & still have a purpose. Be encouraged people & please dont give up. The end result is so much worth the struggle xx
