“Our angelic ways” – One must have been quick to realize, - TopicsExpress

“Our angelic ways” – One must have been quick to realize, as is well known in classic existential dictums, that “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. For indeed, there is so much to learn; there is so much to aspire, but it is not for us to decide how much our dreams go or how far that horizon ahead of us extends. They have already been set, as they appear apt and seducing, before us to test, as it were, our so called prudence for freedom. As Saint Augustine exposes it: “Patience is the virtue of the angels; for us here on earth, prudence will do.” And yet prudence itself speaks to us that it takes an angel to be patient. It takes an angel to be patient against these dreams, these horizons in beyond, and these freedoms in hoping. If the road to hell might have been paved with good intentions, must we not become angels to continually act and serve with patience, in spite of the paralyzing hellish reality in front of us?
