Our buddy Matt from In Crowded Skies is the first person to make sense of this Ice Bucket Bullshit! This is one of the reasons we have turned down nominations - We suggest you read and do what Matt says if you really want to help! We certainly will be! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the last week or so Ive watched friends, family and celebrities chucking buckets of ice cold water over themselves in the name of charity. It got me thinking about all the people around the world for whom a bucket of clean water is a luxury, a luxury theyve had to walk for miles to fetch just so their family can have something to drink. Well done everyone for wasting something were so lucky to have... I hate it when people post preachy statuses like this so Im going to try and keep it short. Dont bother nominating me for the #ALSIceBucketChallenge - Im not doing it! Instead Id like to urge my family and friends to take up my #3CharitiesChallenge instead. Today, I made a donation to WaterAid who provide clean water to people who dont have it, it seemed like the right thing to do what with all the water were wasting in the name of charity. I also donated to the ALS as despite my issues with their Ice Bucket Challenge they are still a very worthwhile charity deserving of my money and yours. To round things off I donated to the RNLI, A charity I have donated to several times in the past. The people they have rescued over the years know all about ice cold water and for them its no laughing matter. Several of my friends take to the water on a regular basis for work and pleasure and knowing the RNLI are out there helping these people when things go wrong in all weather at all hours of the day and night is of constant reassurance. So, instead of chucking a bucket of water over yourself this bank holiday, why not go online, find three charities of your choice and donate, its as easy as that! Lets stop wasting water and do something really worthwhile with our Bank Holiday Monday!
