Our children are the mirror through which outsiders perceive what - TopicsExpress

Our children are the mirror through which outsiders perceive what values we uphold as mothers. Some days ago, i saw someone enter a church auditorium through the window because the doors were still locked. An onlooker simply passed a comment: that girl lacks home training. Some people are of the opinion that no matter how seriously we emphasize the place of morality when training our children, when they approach their years of independence, they will discard the words of wisdom. THIS IS FALSE!!! With all due apologies. Train a child in the way that he should go and WHEN HE IS OLD, HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT. [Proverbs 22:6] So says the Holy Book. Make them understand that you are correcting them BECAUSE YOU LOVE THEM. Whatever is done with the motive of love flourishes! When they understand this, they will make boast of your disciplinary measures even before their peers in school.[Trust me, this is the delight of every mother/aunt] Help them to understand that Anyone who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the congregation of the dead. [proverbs 21: 16} There exists an Igbo proverb which goes thus: Nwata isi ike na-ebi nala kporo nku. This is translated as every heady child dwells in a barren land. There is a yearning in the heart of every child for deep affection and to be shown the right way through life.
