Our church is renting the top floor of a bank while our little church building is being renovated for the next 8-12 months. Its a great space for the most part. However, there is one back corner where our supply closet is located that had no WORKING light and was extremely dark. It made it very difficult to access our needed supplies. All other non-working lights in the building were easily fixed. But, this one even befuddled the electrician that was hired to get everything in working order. Then my husband recalled that the top floor had been recently divided into two sections before we rented our space making two separate units to rent. It occurred to him that the switch was on the other side of the wall--in the OTHER rental space that we had no access to. As it turned out, he was correct. For some reason as I was pondering this today, I began thinking: When you find yourself in a very dark corner of life and cant seem to find the light you desperately need, it is often because the switch you need to access is located on the opposite side of of where you are choosing to live your life. Unlike our situation in the rental unit where we had no access to the switch located on the other side of the wall somewhere, WE always have access to the switch that brings light into our world. We just have to be willing to leave the darkness behind and turn the corner entering the realm where we can have the exact amount of light we are willing to work for--and where EVERYTHING good becomes a possibility. So, leave behind anything that is darkening the shelves of your life. Its hard to properly maneuver and be your best self when you cant adequately assess nor access your needed supplies.
