Our client in Stellenbosch is looking for a Logistics Manager/Coordinator to join their dynamic team. Purpose of role: - To work closely with suppliers, pack houses & cold stores, marketing, and purchasing to create timely, cost-effective export supply chains. - Responsible for handling the technical details of international transportation with multiple modes, complex documentation, and varying customs regulations, developing distribution strategies, and building relationships with logistics intermediaries. - Handling various problems inherent in moving freight long distances and holding inventory at multiple locations. - Responsible for the ongoing liaison with all persons who procure and ship fruit on behalf of the employer and for liaising with foreign buyers to ensure that all logistical arrangements for the transport, receipt storage and/or shipping of fruit are made. - Monitor performance of supply chain at lowest total cost and maximum client satisfaction. Key Outputs: • Projecting shipping volume weekly and seasonally. • Trouble shoot and provide customers and company with operational solutions • Liaise with clients regarding fruit availability/order processing. • Building and maintaining strong and sustainable relationships with service providers and Authorities • Responsible for multi-faceted issues within the following disciplines, warehousing, transportation, import / export, physical inventory, customer service. • Managing the Logistics function of the company by supervising 3PL service providers. • Develop and maintain excellent service to internal and external customers at all times. • Compute tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of merchandise exported to foreign destinations. • Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of exported products. • Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and service standards for export clearance operations. • Evaluates trade-offs between transportation costs, inventory costs, and service levels • Produce detailed supply report to clients/suppliers or internal information required. • Effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation. • Maintain communication with clients, reviewing their export process on a regular basis. Proactively communicate to clients on status of their shipments. • Develop and use collaborative relationships to accomplish work goals. • Control and monitor the movement of palletized fruit from suppliers (including all growers and pack houses) to cold storage and/or port to be shipped; • Receive, tally and record all deliveries of fruit from suppliers. • Ensure that all fruit is certified Class 1 and 2 fruit suitable for export by the Perishable Products Export Control Board, or obtain such certification; • Ensure efficient cold storage and implement and maintain accurate stock control; • Control and monitor loading and dispatch of fruit via container or vessels, ensuring that all loading, trucking and shipping takes place timeously; • Produce weekly load document tally sheets for pallets of fruit loaded for shipment; • Arrange and co-ordinate all other task incidental to the receipt, storage and shipping of fruit on behalf of the employer; • Co-ordinate the generation of all export documentation according to the requirements of each foreign buyer of the employer timeously; • Ensure that all required export documentation is delivered and received timeously by foreign buyers; • Keep an accurate log as to the shipment of fruit on vessels as well as the stages in shipment, such as the actual arrival dates of vessel in foreign ports including shipping dates and receiving dates of documents at each destination; Key Requirements: • Quick thinker, very pro-active in work • Dedicated and loyal, be able to follow clear instructions • Attention to detail is a pre-requisite • Time Management and Prioritization must be excellent • Good communication skills • Team player DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR CV IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE ABOVE.
