Our country needs strong domestic manufacturing policy to maintain our global competitiveness. And as we work to revitalize American manufacturing and create highly-skilled, good-paying jobs, we must ensure that all communities across the country benefit from the boom. Thats why I added an amendment to the recently passed Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act that would increase diversity in the manufacturing sector. The bill aims to boost American manufacturing competitiveness, stimulate innovation and accelerate workforce development. My amendment requires that these efforts include women and minority owned and small and mid-sized businesses to ensure that the businesses stimulating new innovation in manufacturing represent the diversity of the communities they serve.
