Our current political system works like this: We elect officials - TopicsExpress

Our current political system works like this: We elect officials to office by taking into consideration what they tell us theyre going to do. We hold them in good faith that theyll do what they promise us. Once in office, they choose to do whatever they want within the confines of our laws. We have virtually no way to hold anyone accountable for what they told us they were (or were not) going to do that led us to vote for them. The only carrot that is dangled in front of us is that we can replace them in a few years by voting for someone else. But by then, they have already been given the authority to do some real damage and they exercise that right. In the event that they do get voted out, we then repeat the same process again and again and again. Seems a bit broken, no?
