Our daughter is now 6 weeks and 4 days old. Thomas Childress and I had agreed before she was born that within her 6th week is when we would start crib training so itd be done by the time I return to work. Also, we want her to use and enjoy the room, the space that we put so much thought and effort into just for her, that we lovingly spent so much time and energy and money on creating for her. We want her to see it as a special and serene space just for her. Last night: 3 short attempts, 1 fluffy sleep sack, 1 pacifier, 1 short feeding, and 1 shirt that Id been wearing all day with some rocking back and forth later she was comfortably sleeping in her own room, in her own crib, and seemed content and fine. So why on Earth did I sit on my bed hysterically crying?! For the first time it really hit me that she trusts me, depends on me. Thomas was rocking her in the last go, and she just kept watching me. He said that she obviously wanted me. I took her in my arms, swayed her some, and immediately she was asleep. Thats when I remembered the shirt trick. I gave her to Daddy, took it off, laid it in the crib, and swayed her some more. She was out like a light as we laid her on top of the shirt in the crib.
