Our dedicated AAP NRI supporter & worker Aravind Gangadharan has put up a question, why did we fare so badly in the Lok Sabha election ? Many reasons were given by the members. Including fielding wrong candidates ! I dont dispute those. All of those must be correct, because members in this group are intelligent and thoughtful. Im giving below the reasons I think were responsible for our bad showing ! There cant be any easy and simple answer for the debacle. My answer is all those were correct, but we lost at places where we had fielded good candidates too ! Medha Patkar and Kumar Viswas had lost which we thought was impossible ! So there will be a few reasons. Let us have a look at those : 1. We had been over ambitious ! Without strong base we had contested the poll ! We were simply not in a position to contest in so many seats ...which was more than 400 seats ! We diluted our efforts, our funds ! We should have contested from only specific seats. 2. We were virtually unknown in many parts of the country ! The media was against us ! They had been spreading all sorts of wrong things about us ! And our voice was not heard ! 3. We made a big mistake of resigning from the Delhi govt. That gave our opponents a chance to show us as irresponsible and greedy to grab power at center ! Yogendra Yadavs comment that he wants to see Kejriwal as PM was wrongly interpreted ! People thought these people could not manage Delhi assembly and are now thinking of forming central govt. ? These are fools ! 4. In fact the objective of contesting the LS was also not clear to the people ! They asked ; why did Kejriwal stand against Narendra Modi from Varanasi ? If by chance he had beaten Modi, what purpose that would have served ? Could AAP get 282 seats on their own ? 5. People were fed up of the worthless Man Mohan Singh UPA govt. They wanted a change ! And Modi was the alternative ! By his speeches, Modi had painted a rosy picture ! Achchhe din anewale hai was his call and people believed him out of frustration ! So, there was a very strong current in favor of Modi ! 6. By our contesting in so many seats and Kejriwal standing against Modi and devoting all energy for opposing Modi, we diverted the public anger to us ! We were the trouble makers, we were the agents of Congress and we were the stumbling stone in the path of Modi becoming the PM ! And in their anger, due to frustration, wrong propaganda by media and Modis big promises ...people rejected us every where ! Friends, this is my frank assessment ! I may get a lot of brick bats for this. That Ill accept. Now, we must get into the track from where we had dislodged ourselves ! We must win Delhi and set up the example of good governance, which we had left incomplete !
