Our devotion for today Title: on what are you building your house(life)? Text: Matthew 7:24-27 24 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. 25 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand. 27 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell--and great and complete was the fall of it. Amen! Most of the time we turn to believe in the things we have studied in school than the word of God. And It is not strange to see a professor of any discipline or a scholar who does not believe in God but rather the knowledge he or she has acquired. We leave in generation where the best economists ever witnessed in history are doing their best based on what they have studied to come out with strategies to solve the economic and fincial hardship the world is facing today. But to no avail. Most worldly books on success would tell you to save 40% of your monthly income and use the 60% to provide the basic things you would need in life and you will never be financial handicap. The Bible says give 10% of your monthly income to God through tithe and see what would happen to your finance. We have the best doctors today but none of them have foud the cure for aids. Why because the word of God is foolishness to most of them. They believe in theories and principles they have studied. The Bible says anytime we hear the word of God and apply it in our day to day lives, we would be like a wise man who builds his house on a rock. No matter how strong the storm may be, we will always stand out victorious. This morning God is urging all of us to study his word, meditate on it and apply it by relying on it in our daily lives and we would be able to withstand any storm (problems or hardship that will come our way. Amen! Lets pray Father we thank you for your word. For in it there is all that we need in life. Once again we say thank you Lord. Father this morning we ask you to give us the grace to enable us rely solely on your word in our day to day lives. For in your word there is wisdom and power. We thank you for an answered prayer. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
