Our devotion for today Title: the secret behind praise and Thanksgiving. Text: Luke 17:11-19 11 As He went on His way to Jerusalem, it occurred that [Jesus] was passing [along the border] between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as He was going into one village, He was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance. 13 And they raised up their voices and called, Jesus, Master, take pity and have mercy on us! 14 And when He saw them, He said to them, Go [at once] and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went, they were cured and made clean. 15 Then one of them, upon seeing that he was cured, turned back, recognizing and thanking and praising God with a loud voice; 16 And he fell prostrate at Jesus feet, thanking Him [over and over]. And he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus asked, Were not [all] ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Was there no one found to return and to [d]recognize and give thanks and praise to God except this alien? 19 And He said to him, Get up and go on your way. Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your belief in God) has restored you to health. Amen! Praise and Thanksgiving is one of the things that each and everyone of us values very much. As humans as we are When we do something for someone and that person fails to thank us we become disappointed and would vow not to do or show any good gesture to that person again. And if its possible to turn back the hands of time we would undo whatever good we have done to that fellow because they have failed to show appreciation for what we did for them. however, sometimes feel disappointed though the one we have done good to shows appreciation for what we have done for them. Why because we were expecting some material form of appreciation. And all we got was just a thank you, God bless you. I like the Ga expression of thank you. Which is OYI WALA DORN which literally means may your life on earth be prolonged. What material thing is more valuable than life? The scripture above unveils a very great secret about praise and Thanksgiving. And i want to share it with you. When one out of the ten already cured lepers went back to Jesus and started offering praise and Thanksgiving to our lord Jesus Christ. He asked him if he is the only one He had cured? Jesus then said to him go your faith has healed and made you whole. One would ask why should Jesus Christ say to the already cured leper that his faith has healed him after praising and thanking our lord Jesus Christ? What the cured leper did sealed and secured his healing. Believers in the lord, whenever the lord does something for us and we thank and praise him. Our praise and Thanksgiving seals whatever he has done for us. Its just like going to the bank to deposit money. If after depositing the money the teller or cashier forgot or fails to put his or her official stamp on the duplicate of your deposit slip it would be very difficult for you to prove that you made a deposit or do any form of reconciliation of account if you have problem with your account balance. If Praise and Thanksgiving is not very very important to our lord and good for us He would not have asked the cured leper who returned to praise and thank Him of the other nine lepers who had refused or forgotten to come come and offer their praise and Thanksgiving to Him. Amen! Lets pray Father we give you all the praise honour and adoration. We thank you for what you have done, what youre doing and what youre about to do in our lives. We praise you for who you are. We say hollowed be thy mane. Amen!
