Our family just moved here to Ankeny this week and we are thrilled to be here! Weve been so impressed already with this wonderful town and the wonderful people we have met. I am looking for personal opinions on healthcare and schools because my 10 year son was recently diagnosed with high functioning autism, and last year started having grand mal seizures and was diagnosed with epilespy also. I have 1 other high functioning 7 year old autistic child, and Im pretty sure my last is as well...though hes not been officially tested. As you can see, its very important we see Dr.s that understand these conditions and we get established soon because of my sons neurological condition. My son has been bullied a lot in the past due to the fact hes a little different, and he will be going into middle school this year. The thought of his autism mixed with new school, new schedules, and his sensitive nature to bullying has me terrified. Ive considered home schooling for this reason. I would love to know your opinions on the schools understanding our situation a little better! Please...all opinions welcome! Thank you so much!
