Our featured game this Thursday comes from the mens championship and is between table toppers soggy biscuit and black hawks who lie in 2nd just 3 points behind. This game had absolutely everything and lived up to expectations and then some! The teams line up as follows: Soggy biscuit Judo Geoff Connor Matt Muzzy Gibbo Brewer gk George Black hawks Dale Paul Steve Roman Guy gk Jack Chris Connor scores early after good work by George, then George lines one up from half way and smashes it top corner, think torsten frings 2006 World Cup! Roman forces 2 good saves from brewer and the counter attack sees Georges good effort come back off the post. Connor scores his 2nd for 3-0 but Jack replies for black hawks making it 3-1. Brewer and roman are having a good battle with the veteran keeper making another pair of solid saves. Guy, in the black hawks goal, takes the phrase using everything to make the block too literally with a painful save, stopping gibbo. Gibbo nips down the right wing and cracks a low effort into the bottom corner 4-1. Thats followed up as Muzzy drills one across goal for 5-1. George then wriggles to get a sight of goal and finds the corner 6-1. Chris scores from an indirect free kick, referee Fraser making a great call as the ball just crossed the line. Connor replies, creating a goal from nothing 7-2 and the same player scores from an acute angle with soggy biscuit looking to run away with this game at 8-2. Roman shows great close control and hits the post, but retains the ball with a cruyff turn and scores with the outside of his boot 8-3. Half time soggy biscuit 8-3 black hawks Roman beats Connor and misses one on one but tucks away the rebound 8-4. Brewer saves well but black hawks get another through roman as they come out firing 2nd half 8-5. Roman takes his time in front of the box but brewer blocks his effort. George slows them down with a good finish for 9-5, but dale replies immediately 9-6. Roman dances through the challenges and scores to make it 9-7 and Steve grabs a goal for 9-8. With black hawks running the 2nd half Roman strikes against the foot of the post. Its not long though before Roman equalises again, feigning his way through the defence. Brewer makes a full stretch, one handed save as black hawks look to take the lead, which Dale duly does completing the turn around,10-9. Jack shows great feet and blasts one past brewer for 11-9. Dale narrowly misses but Jack tucks away the rebound and black hawks look good, leading 12-9. However, the league leaders dont have a 100% record for nothing and Gibbo replies as he makes his way down the wing, finding the far bottom corner. Soon after, George hits another long ranger inside the near post and Gibbo pounces on a loose ball to level things up 12-12, game on. With only 2 minutes left on the clock, what happens next couldnt be written. Judo Geoff came on for the first time, with 5 minutes remaining and with perhaps his first touch, scores an effort into the top corner which is closely followed by the full time whistle. Geoff cannot hide his delight and enters the bar to an absolute heroes welcome, looking like Eric cantona after that lob at old Trafford. What a great game and a fairy tale for Geoff and the lads, but what a showing 2nd half by the black hawks, deservedly the featured match! Full time soggy biscuit 13-12 black hawks
