Our friend at Sunshine Farm says shes raised two batch of 15 chicks each this year, and each time her and her daughter get attached to one specific chick, giving it a little extra attention. In both cases, the one given the extra attention was the first of the batch to lay an egg, by months. Shes curious if anyone else has found a correlation between extra affection and early egg laying. Now that I think about it, Sweet Pea, our most friendly chick (RIP) was our first to lay. She laid the first egg about two months before any other chick, and she was given a little extra attention growing up. What do you think? Coincidence?
