Our generation is too young to be this sad. We’ve hardly even seen the world yet. And already we feel unhappy, believing in our hearts that life can’t get any worse but also denying the possibility that things will get better. We wish that things would get better but do nothing to make that a reality. In fact we do our best to avoid reality altogether. We want something more but don’t know what we’re looking for. Without a clear goal, we have nothing to strive for. Sometimes our only goal is to get through the day. No time nor energy is wasted on enjoyment, only survival. We’re a messed up bunch; we tried so hard to grow up too soon and when we realized how harsh it was to be older, we tried to shy away from it. Life doesn’t work that way. You can’t always choose what happens to you, you’re only in control of how you respond to it.
