Our goal is the resurrection, and the new life beyond, “our hope for days unending blossoms with the dawn”, the sure road to which is the path of mission. The hope of the resurrection puts things in perspective; we don’t get too depressed about the bad things nor too excited about the good things.Unless our goal is that place of blessed companionship, of ultimate satisfaction, then we cannot make the sacrifices necessary in order that our lives become an “offering”. To live a life of mission is to see that I have a role to play as part of the Church, which is the “Kingdom of God on earth”, guiding the human race toward its destiny. We are both the “bricks and the builders”, it is only by being a living stone that I can build up this edifice.
