Our hearts were broken today, we very unexpectedly had to say - TopicsExpress

Our hearts were broken today, we very unexpectedly had to say good-bye to Blade. In the last three days, just since the GAASC show, we’d started seeing a gradual change in behavior and condition, to the point we took him to the emergency clinic last night, I was afraid he was bloating. A quick x-ray confirmed not, but did show some spots the vet was concerned about. First thing this morning, we went to Georgia Vet Specialists and they confirmed our worst fear, it was hemangiosarcoma and it was everywhere. The damage was massive and increasing by the hour. They made him as comfortable as possible so that Mike and Amy could get there to say goodbye, then at Noon we let him go peacefully and with dignity. He was always so vibrant and full of life. He RAN everywhere. Blade ran with an abandon that comes from a heart full of zest for living. He came by his nickname, Super Blade Watson, very honestly. The gentleness of his soul was astounding. He was forever concerned about anything that might be upsetting Mike or I. He was my constant guardian. Whenever I traveled with him, I knew I had nothing to fear, Blade would have my back. This loss has happened so suddenly and tragically, we’re still very numb. I know we had to do the right thing for him today, but I’d give anything to have him back. I’m really going to miss this loving and super talented boy. He’s gone to join Husker to play Frisbee with the angels. Never in my life would I have imagined another dog as sweet as Husker, but Blade learned well for the year they lived together. Mike and I are going to miss him and will be forever grateful he was part of our lives for the time he had. Rest in peace, sweet boy.
