Our honouree for the evening is Dr. Ellen Warner who is a medical oncologist at the Odette Cancer Centre of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Her practice and research are entirely devoted to the management of women with breast cancer or at high risk for the disease. She started the first genetic testing program in Toronto for women with breast cancer and a strong family history, and then led a study demonstrating that breast screening with MRI is far more sensitive than mammography for women with an inherited predisposition to develop breast cancer. In 2008 she launched a specialized clinical, research and educational program called PYNK for women age 40 and younger with breast cancer.
