Our hospital is reviewing the safety and security measures being used in other hospitals to give us ideas on ways to upgrade ours. We see 40,000 patients a year in our ED. We would appreciate input from similar sized departments. Do you use metal detectors, video cameras and have 24 hr security personnel? Do you use visitor passes or badges and is there any employee card access system? Are ED doors hooked to an alarm, and does it go to police? Any other measure that is specifically important for your facility?
