Our last evening here on Fripp Island. Earlier today, a violent storm tore across the island sending long streaks of lightening through the sky. The marsh seemed to vibrate beneath the loud rumbles of thunder. We have been without electricity for the past 5 hours. But in the calm now, without all the background noises, we can hear the songs from the salt marsh--the water as it flows to high tide, the osprey screeching as it skims the water to find an evening meal, the rustle of palmetto fronds. This is truly peace after the storm.
