Our last #volunteersweek spotlight is on Andrew, who joined our register 22 years ago, and just 2 years later was found to be a match for a patient in need. Astonishingly, five years later he was a match again. Andrew said: ‘It really is quite unusual to be called to donate twice when you think of all of the thousands of different tissue types in the world. I’m grateful I was able to give them this important chance of survival.’ In 2012, we opened a donation centre in Sheffield and Andrew signed up to volunteer. Our brilliant team of volunteers in both London and Sheffield meet our donors in hospital, give them information, and support them through the process. Sadly, Andrew is moving to Leeds in the summer, so we are looking to recruit new volunteers in Sheffield. Could you help?
