Our life is full of celebrations over the little things, but friends this is HUGE! Those of you who have tirelessly worked with my daughter on her speech, and the dreaded b sound, look what my girlie has been doing for over a week now!!! One night, after reading nursery rhymes, I began to make motorboat(best way I can describe them) sounds at her. She usually feels very pressured about mimicking consonant sounds, so I wanted to take the pressure off. I quietly looked her in the eyes, and whispered to her that she could do this, and manually moved her lips together while I made the b sound. She got it right away, like it had never been a problem and can say it on command now. Before, she always substituted d for b. Ive just started introducing some easy words that have initial b, followed by vowels, and she is doing well and she is SO PROUD of herself. Im so glad I was able to witness the first time. This is after TWO YEARS OF WORK on this sound. She can also say baby.:)
