Our little Allie Cat crossed the Rainbow Bridge today. Our hearts are so sad. Allie brought so much joy and fun into my life. She came to live with me in 1999, when I lived by myself for the first time ever. She was rescued from a drain pipe at Fort Bragg and rode the 8 hour ride in her carrier. She moved with me to Chattanooga Tennessee and would come back every weekend to stay with Mama until Thanksgiving that year. When I would ask if she wanted to go see Grandma she would get in her cat carrier and be ready to go. After Thankgiving she lived with Mama and comforted her until Mama died. She was such a good comforter. Mama loved her so much and on her bad days, Allie would lay with her on the bed as company. After Mama passed, I really didn’t know if Allie would live, but she came back to live with us and we have had many laughs at her and her “C”attitude. Mama taught Allie to roll over on command. And she would do that, she would play with her “mouse mouse” and run wild through the house at times. She became friends with Goldminer and Mr. Generic, our other two cats who lived outside. Allie was tiny, about 4 pounds, but Generic (weighing in at 8-10 lbs) would walk around her because she thought she was bigger and badder. We lost both of the outside kitties a couple of years ago and have been on borrowed time since then with Allie. Allie would sometimes creep up under the covers of the bed and if you turned the covers bad and awoke her….wow…what a mean face she would make. She learned to meow to go outside instead of using the litter box. She mothered the baby squirrels and never once attempted to go after any of them or Samson and Deliah, our sugar gliders. Allie would walk through the house sometimes if I left the room, calling Mawmaw. She was such a comfort to me over the past years when I haven’t felt well, sometimes by being close by for hours at a time. There will never be another kitty like Allie Cat. I am so inclined to believe that sometimes God send his comfort through our little animals. They certainly have unconditional and unending love for us. Thank you little Allie Cat for all the things you did to make our life happier.
