Our magic doesnt just benefit kids. We try to make the whole familys experience better! Check out this wonderful story from one of our Hospital Magicians: Today I met a 14 year old girl named Elsa with a room full of people. Both her parents were there along with her two little brothers and grandma. I sometimes worry that these kids would rather have family time alone, but I quickly saw on her parents faces they were relieved when I opened the door. I charged the two little boys with being magicians assistants and gave them magic wands to help their sister with the magic. She was having trouble moving, so we invited the parents and grandma to the bedside to help pick cards. Elsa told me where to stop and told her mom which card to pick. She even switched it out at the very last second just to be sure mom and I werent in cahoots. No matter how hard I tried after that, I couldnt stop Elsas card from popping right to the top of the deck when her brothers waved those magic wands. We shuffled; we cut; we buried, all to no avail. At one point we even gave the deck to grandma, but even that couldnt stop this this familys magic as dad flipped the top card out of her hand only to find Elsas signature. As I left this amazing room, Elsas dad followed me out. He thanked me with tears in his eyes and said, You dont know how much this meant to us. Elsa is having surgery in the morning, and we were in desperate need of some family time. Before you walked in, we were watching TV in silence. That magic brought as together in a way I havent been able to do in weeks.
