Our personal definition of love is distorted through the lenses we - TopicsExpress

Our personal definition of love is distorted through the lenses we wear; smudged with wounds and disappointments of the past. We hold people to an invisible standard of what we think love looks like, and our standards keep changing. Gods love is perfect. Until we fully believe and receive His love, we will seek to find it in someone else. This is a recipe for disaster, since He is the only One to fill that place. When we understand this, we will not seek anyone, or anything, to fill the void, and we will not crumble when others do not love us back. We will experience the knowing of His unconditional love and we can trust His love. His love is perfect and there is no fear in His love. We do not have to perform to be accepted, He knows us fully and He will not reject us. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
