Our personal relationship with Jesus Christ should assure us to believe that there are irrevocable truths in the bible that are essential to Christianity. The truth of God and His Word is not shaped or changed by culture or the spiritual temperature of the day. If we ignore the fullness of the gospel we make a grave mistake. There are truths about God and the church and there place in this present world, which are essential to the life of Christianity. If they are lost or distorted, the result will not be merely wrong ideas but misplaced trust, which has eternal consequence! The inner life of faith is not independent from the doctrinal statement of faith. When doctrine goes bad, so do hearts! There is a body of doctrine which must be preserved, it is the truth and only the truth will set you free. The written Word of God stands as the lighthouse of our faith, revealing the truth of God, His nature and His love towards us. The fullness of God’s Word was delivered in full, and every other claim to truth is now measured by the standard of the faith once for all delivered to the saints. (Jude 1:3) We therefore must stand today and contend for the truth of God’s Word, without compromise. This generation is facing some the gravest deceptions as we see the love of many growing cold. I pray that the body of Christ will stand for truth and contend for the faith. The eternal destination of a generation depends upon it! May you be a contender, as you live out your destiny and purpose in Christ. Amen
